St. Patricks Day Crafts II: Leprechaun Eyeglasses and Handprint Shamrock

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

St. Patricks Day is a fun celebration for everyone. Let your little ones enjoy St. Patricks Day by teaching them how to make their own Leprechaun eyeglasses . Leprechauns are said to vanish if you let them out of your sight. The legend also says that leprechauns have hidden treasures and the only way to get them is by catching and interrogating one.

To make Leprechaun eyeglasses you must first gather the materials. You will need: a green construction or cardboard paper, a pipe cleaner, a pair of blunt-end scissors and green cellophane. Cut along the green construction paper in the shape of eye glasses. Cut through the center to make eyeholes. Paste green cellophane through the cellophane. Poke the sides and insert the pipe cleaner and gently twist the ends. Place it on your ear and gently curve the end to form. Place it onto your kids ear and gently curl the end to settle in her ears.

To make handprint shamrock you must first gather the following ingredients: green and light green construction paper, a pair of scissors and glue. Cut out a stem using the green construction paper. Trace your kids palm using the same green construction paper. Do it 2 more times. Cut a pattern of three-clover leaf using the light green construction paper. Paste the hand patterns onto the leaf patter arranging them the same way. Glue the stem at the bottom.

Enjoy making these simple, fun and quick St. Patricks Day crafts with your kids. Further enrich the experience by holding a St. Patricks Day craft school at your home. Invite your kids friends over so they can experience working with each other and exploring their creativity.
